DIY Sponge Sanitizer

Super easy-peasy way to sanitize your kitchen and cleaning sponges!


  • White Vinegar
  • Bowl, Mason Jar, or Container

Okay, guys. Literally just fill a bowl with white vinegar and stick your sponges inside, so they are completely immersed. Let them soak overnight. When you wake up, just squeeze them out. And walla! They will be sanitized, disinfected, and ready for use! How could this be easier? And so cheap. Talk about living the frugal life. 🙂

Why does this work?

  • acetic acid in vinegar kills bacteria
  • acetic acid in vinegar eliminates odors

Benefits of using vinegar as a sanitizer:

  • safer than heating sponges in microwave
